Abstract: Kuwait, which has been pivotal to nearly two decades of U.S. involvement in Iraq, has been mired in internal wrangling over economic issues and the political dominance of the ruling family for the past three years. There are also signs of Sunni-Shiite tensions, which previously were absent or muted. Among other effects, the political stalemate has delayed key energy projects.
