Abstract: Legislation was passed by the House and Senate, but not enacted, that would have changed section 615 of IDEA to eliminate different disciplinary procedures for children with disabilities in certain situations. An amendment was offered that applied to children with disabilities who carry firearm. Another amendment was offered concerning the discipline of a child with a disability who knowingly possesses or uses illegal drugs at school or commits an aggravated assault or battery at school. None of the legislation was enacted.
