Number: RL33973 Title: Unauthorized Employment in the United States: Issues and Options Authors: Andorra Bruno, Domestic Social Policy Division Abstract: For many years, it has been widely accepted that most unauthorized aliens enter and remain in the United States in order to work. Thus, eliminating employment opportunities for these aliens has been seen as a key to curtailing unauthorized immigration. In the 109th Congress, both the House and Senate passed major immigration bills that included significant provisions aimed at preventing unauthorized employment. Legislation on unauthorized employment may be considered in the 110th Congress. Pages: 13 Date: April 20, 2007
