Abstract: This report examines the changes in tax rates and tax burdens on individuals. Not only are federal individual income taxes considered, but also social insurance contributions and state and local taxes. The evolution of these taxes since 1960 is analyzed to track changes in the overall level and distribution of the tax burden.
