Abstract: Early in the 110th Congress, two expedited rescission amendments came to the Senate floor. On January 24, 2007, a vote to invoke cloture on a so-called "item veto" amendment (S.Amdt. 101) failed. Subsequently, S. 1186 and S.J.Res. 27 were introduced. Expedited rescission and item veto measures are also pending in the House, including H.R. 595, H.R. 689, H.R. 1375, H.R. 1998, H.R. 2084, and H.J.Res. 38.
