Title: Community Services Block Grants (CSBG): Funding and Reauthorization

Abstract: In 2006, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) faulted HHS for weak oversight of CSBG and recommended greater monitoring of states and targeting of technical assistance funds. HHS took steps in response to GAO, although the Senate Appropriations Committee criticized HHS recently (S.Rept. 110-410) for failing to report on its progress and for not implementing a training and technical assistance needs assessment and delivery plan as directed earlier by the committee.
