Number: RL32791 Title: Congressional Budget Actions in 2005 Authors: Bill Heniff, Jr., Government and Finance Division Abstract: During the first session of the 109th Congress, the House and Senate considered many different budgetary measures. Most of them pertained to fiscal year (FY) 2006 and beyond, but some made adjustments to the budget for FY2005. This report describes House and Senate actions on major budgetary legislation within the framework of the congressional budget process and other procedural requirements. Congress typically begins its annual budget process once the President submits his budget for the upcoming fiscal year. President George W. Bush submitted his FY2006 budget to Congress on February 7, 2005. Pages: 34 Date: January 20, 2006
