Abstract: This report discusses the major issues being debated in the context of NASAs FY2005 request for $16.2 billion, a 5.6% increase over its FY2004 appropriated level of $15.4 billion. The three most prominent issues are the announcement by President Bush of a new Vision for Space Exploration through which humans would return to the Moon by 2020 and then go on to Mars and world beyond; NASAs preparations for returning the space shuttle to flight status following the February 2003 space shuttle Columbia tragedy; and whether to launch a repair mission to the Hubble Space Telescope.
