Welborn and Grace Chu, American Law Division Abstract: On December 4, 2003, the President signed the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions (FACT) Act of 2003 (P.L. 108-159), which included a number of amendments to the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) aimed at protecting the privacy of the information in a consumers credit report, assisting victims of identity theft, and preventing fraudulent credit transactions. Many provisions of the Act required implementation by the Federal Trade Commission and the federal banking agencies.
