Apling, Domestic Social Policy Division Abstract: IDEA has been amended several times, most recently and most comprehensively by the 1997 IDEA reauthorization, P.L. 105-17, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act Amendments of 1997. Congress is currently considering the reauthorization of the IDEA, 20 U.S.C. 1400 et seq.1 H.R. 1350, 108th Congress, passed the House on April 30, 2003. The Senate bill, S. 1248, 108th Congress, was reported out of the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee on June 25, 2003 and placed on the Senate legislative calendar under general orders on November 3, 2003. On May 13, 2004, the Senate incorporated S. 1248 in H.R. 1350 and passed H.R. 1350 in lieu of S. 1248. A table lists the amendments considered during Senate floor debate of S. 1248, the major sponsors of the amendments, and the results of the consideration of each amendment.
