Abstract: This report begins by examining the current labor market situation compared to the 2001 peak and trough in the business cycle. It then compares the behavior of selected labor market indicators during the recovery with their behavior during earlier post-World War II recoveries and explores explanations that have been offered for any differences. The report concludes by discussing the near-term prospects for the economy.
