Abstract: This report examines survey and other research findings related to TANF implementation and its relationship to child maltreatment and use of public child welfare systems. It also discusses the importance of TANF to collaborative efforts between family cash assistance and child welfare systems, changes in the child welfare funding landscape attributable to TANF, and the growth in the share of TANF families that receive a "child-only" benefit.
