Title: Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA): Possible Voucher Issues

Abstract: Congress is considering reauthorization of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) program. Among options being discussed is increasing parental choice under IDEA. This report provides a brief overview of choice programs, including current and proposed federal programs and the Florida McKay Scholarship Program, which provides vouchers for children with disabilities. The report concludes with a summary of general issues related to choice programs together with possible additional issues with respect to children with disabilities.
