After introducing fundamentals of patent protection for pharmaceuticals domestically and abroad, this report discusses medications used in treating HIV/AIDS. It then describes contemporary international controversies regarding patents on HIV/AIDS drugs and the potential consequences of these disputes for entrepreneurial drug companies.
