Abstract: On February 4, 2008, the Administration released its proposed budget for FY2009. The President requests $7.027 billion in funding for Head Start (which translates to an increase of almost $149 million above the FY2008 level). The Administration anticipates that the increased funding would be used to give programs a cost-of-living increase of approximately 1.9% and to increase enrollment in Indian and Migrant Head Start programs by approximately 1,900 children.
