Abstract: The Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA) expired at the end of FY2001; however, Congress has provided FY2002 funding ($81.6 million) for the program and the House passed legislation to reauthorize the program, the Keeping Children and Families Safe Act of 2002 (H.R. 3839) on April 23. As of that date, no reauthorization legislation had been introduced in the Senate.
