The Bush Administration recently announced it opposed the creation of a separate federal CIO position due in part to concerns about agency accountability. Instead, the Bush Administration apparently supports a policy to recruit a deputy director of management at OMB who will be responsible for oversight of agency-level CIOs and coordinating e-government initiatives.
