Abstract: In 1998, in the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, Congress amended the copyright law to protect the rights of copyright holders in the digital era. The activities and the technology encompassed by the law, and the law itself, are being applied and interpreted by the courts. Together, the various cases represent the dramatic impact of new technology on historic principles of copyright law. They are examined in this report.
