Abstract: In the 109th Congress, the Financial Services Regulatory Relief Act of 2006 (S. 2856), which is in conference with the House version of this bill, may have an impact on the concentration of financial services providers. It includes provisions that address the risks that large, complex banking/securities firms must confront in the new GLBA environment. The dynamics of consolidation combined with the commingling of financial services have made risk management more difficult for the services providers and their regulators.
