Abstract: This report examines the trend in the male-female wage gap and explanations in the economics literature for its existence (i.e., human capital and discrimination models). Remedies proposed to reduce the gender wage gap are addressed, with an in-depth focus on the comparable worth approach to achieving pay equity between women and men.
